At the ripe age of 62, Christine Neubauer isn't willing to settle for a life devoid of passion. In a heartfelt RTL interview, the actress reveals the secret behind her long-term relationship with her lover, José Campos, and how he stands by her side as she dances her way through "Let's Dance."
Each Friday evening, Christine Neubauer captivates the audience with her electrifying energy, contagious enthusiasm, and vivacious personality on the "Let's Dance" stage. As for her moves, she's keeping up quite well: in the third round of competition, she received the first perfect 10 of season 18 for her Charleston performance with dance partner Valentin Lusin.
Love at First Sight
José Campos, 62's heart belongs only to him. The couple crossed paths in 2008, during a time when Neubauer was still married to Lambert Ditzinger. Their divorce was finalized in 2011, and what began as a friendship between Neubauer and Campos blossomed into love. "It takes just a glance to understand each other," Neubauer reminisces of their initial connection in a past RTL interview.
Her partner hasn't shied away from supporting her in her current "Let's Dance" journey. José Campos, whom she affectionately calls her husband, is her "rock," she confesses backstage at the RTL dance show. "He's the foundation of my life... (...) My husband and my dog, who are always by my side, are my unwavering pillars." She trusts them completely, and the actress dreams of defying age as the oldest "Let's Dance" winner ever.
Embracing Herself
Confidence and self-assuredness haven't always been Christine Neubauer's forte. At the start of her career, she faced rejections due to her physique, and learning to love and accept her body was an arduous journey. Today, she serves as a powerful role model for her younger "Let's Dance" counterparts, choosing to embrace her sensuality and zest for life at 62. "What's life without love and passion?" she mused in the RTL interview with a playful wink.
