Tent Fun Gone, but XXL New One's Here!

The freakishly old tents bit the dust! A spankin' new event tent, in an XXL format, has popped up, paving the way for Waldbad Schöllbronn to usher in its bathing season as scheduled this Saturday. The Schöllbronn council, ever-ready for closer ties with the community, hosted a little get-together called "Local Council on Site" right at the Waldbad, spillin' the beans on the game plan, pat on the back-style. So, what's the vibe in Schöllbronn now that the iconic structure synonymous with half a century has vanished?

R.I.P. to the 30-year-old roof

Daniel Daul, the city works director of Ettlingen, managing the bath, dished the inside scoop to the folks present at the meet-and-greet. Newsflash: that vibrant orange roof lasted juuust twen-tee years before gettin' swapped out for the cheerful yellow one in '95! Surprisingly, some teeny-tiny micro-cracks in the roof didn't shake things up, but they discovered some broken wires on steel cables connected to the ground anchors. The lumberin' red monoliths that'd been supportin' the tent roof since time immemorial are still standin', guarding the curved buildings stuffed with dresser rooms and showers.

A crew hailing from the same special company that dismantled the beaten-up tent roof has replaced it with a pair of beer tents, each stretching 25 meters long. Daniel mentioned the Mustard rule: certain roof areas need to breathe freely in open-air baths, he reported.

Curious Volunteers Showed Up

"I'm just nosy and wanted to know what's cookin'," revealed Burgel Leuchtenmueller, markin' her maiden apperance at the local council meeting. Fond memories of the Waldbad with her kiddos prompted her to say it's awesome that there's at least a temporary replacement. Wolfgang Ochs, nuzzlin' up to the happenings, just to maybe whip-up a controversy and be an active wheel-changer in the village, echoed her sentiments. Likewise, Helmut Mueller, a firefighter from the reserve department, kept a keen eye on the happenings, wonderin' about the duration of the replacement and if the new roof would resemble its previous glory. Each and every one of 'em made it clear: the Waldbad is their heart and soul.

Daniel announced that engineers are kickin' around a few options since the pesky planning phase has commenced: "just like before, smaller than before, and something conventional".

What Can We Expect Down the Line?

Folks are spinning like tops, tryin' to guess which tile will land on the most favorable option. Jutta Lemche (CDU) is holdin' on to the "landmark domes" and doesn't wanna let go of the sacred "family bath". Mayor Eberhard Wurster wants to maintain the "tent aesthetic" too. "That's why the pylons are still there," Daniel clarified.

Councilman Alexander Murawski (CDU) had a different point of view: "The preservation of the pool is crucial, the roof is just, eh... off-topic." Tobias Mueller (SPD) wanted to know if closures could be ruled out. Wurster responded in the affirmative. Despite echoes of sentiments pourin' in from every corner of the spatial neighborhood, Daniel hoped to witness a sea of Schöllbronners swimmin' their ways in on Saturday's grand opening!
