Gifted scholar from "Avant-garde" institution set to compete against Canadian team

Ready for some hockey action in 2023?

Get set for an exciting clash between Russian juniors and teams from the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), which hasn't taken place since 2019. Vladimir Mozzokhin, a rising talent from the Avangard hockey academy, will be among the squad, as confirmed by Dan Milstein, the general director of Gold Star Hockey agency.

From June 14 to 19, Toronto and Charlotte will witness this highly anticipated event, marking the first time these teams have gone head-to-head in six years. The Russian team is mainly composed of players born in 2008 and 2009, representing the CSKA system, alongside budding stars from Lokomotiv, Sibir, Torpedo, Avangard, and Traktor. The team is led by head coach Mikhail Deyev.

Now, here's a scoop straight from the horse's mouth: Dan Milstein has high praise for the team, particularly for defender Vladimir Shtyrkhunov, whom he considers a future star among Russia's defense corps.

Don't forget about Elia Tverdosky and Alex Kulagin, sons of renowned Russian hockey players Oleg Tverdosky and Nikolay Kulagin, respectively, who will play for the OHL team.

From 2003 to 2019, the series between the Russian team and CHL teams were held regularly. Though we don't have detailed information about this year's tournament just yet, we can expect official announcements closer to the event regarding the schedule, roster, and notable players.

In case you didn't know, these tournaments offer an excellent opportunity for young players to gain competitive experience against top-level junior teams from North America. Stay tuned for more updates!

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the revival of annual international hockey events, as confirmed hockey action is set for 2023. Specifically, the upcoming contest featuring Russian juniors against Canadian Hockey League teams will recur after a four-year hiatus, with promising players like Vladimir Mozzokhin set to compete.
