Spin: The Giants Slap Down Trump's Claim on Saquon Barkley's Departure

Sure, big guy, let's trash-talk this Trump-drama about Saquon Barkley!

Remember when the Giants seemed to lose their star player to the Eagles in 2024? Well, away from the political scene, President Donald Trump claimed credit for predicting Barkley's exit. But here's the kicker; the Giants have called bullsh*t!

During the Eagles' grand White House visit last week, Trump stated that he had a huddle with the Giants, including coach Brian Daboll, and told them to keep their hands off Barkley. However, the Giants' vice president of communications, Pat Hanlon, as cool as a cucumber, had other plans. Hanlon debunked Trump's tale to Front Office Sports, saying, "There were no conversations."

Hanlon didn't stop there. In true social media style, he fired back at Trump on his personal X account, writing, "With all due respect, stop yapping. Be the leader we all want you to be. And my 401K wants you to be. I'm trying to retire!!!"

Trump originally had mentioned a chat with the Giants about Barkley earlier in the day. Yet, there's been no confirmation from the Giants or their head coach on this matter.

So, what's the lowdown? Barkley, who was criticized for spending time with Trump on social media, couldn't care less. He simply retorted, "Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand."

Remember, Trump piled on the praise on Barkley during the White House ceremony. The two had golfed together at Trump's course in Bedminster, New Jersey, before jetting off to Washington D.C. on Air Force One.

Now, what's your take on this uninvited opinion from the president? Share your thoughts below!

Pat Hanlon, the Giants' vice president of communications, denied having any conversations with President Trump about Saquon Barkley's departure. Hanlon responded to Trump's claims, saying there were no discussions, and furthermore, expressed his desire to retire on his X account. Saquon Barkley himself remained indifferent, stating that he respects the office, not a hard concept to understand. Despite Trump's initial mention of a chat with the Giants about Barkley earlier in the day, the Giants and their head coach have yet to confirm such a conversation.

Trump's assertion that he advised Giants team members, including coach Daboll, against permitting Barkley to depart before his 2024 free agency and joining the Eagles is disputed by the Giants.
Trump's assertion about conversing with the Giants, specifically coach Daboll, and allegedly advising them against allowing Saquon Barkley to depart before his 2024 free agency, which led to his signing with the Eagles, is being disputed by the Giants.
The Giants challenge Donald Trump's assertion that he discouraged Giants' team members, including Brian Daboll, from allowing Saquon Barkley to depart prior to him becoming a free agent in 2024, choosing instead to join the Eagles.
