The Swiss women's football team faced a disappointing 1-2 defeat in their home opener of the European Championship (EURO 2025) against Norway. The game, played at a packed stadium, saw the participation of three players from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Nadine Riesen, a defender, and Noemi Ivelj, a midfielder, both from Eintracht Frankfurt, were part of the Swiss team's squad for the tournament. Riesen and Ivelj, who are currently affiliated with the German club, started the game for Switzerland.

The Swiss team took an early lead when Riesen scored the opening goal in the 28th minute. However, Norway equalised in the 67th minute, and the game seemed to be heading towards a draw until Ingrid Engen of Norway scored an own goal in the 74th minute, giving Switzerland a brief lead. Unfortunately, Norway managed to score again in the 89th minute, sealing the victory for the Norwegian team.

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the Swiss team's coach, expressed her disappointment with the team's performance, stating that they needed to improve in order to compete at the highest level. Gaëlle Thalmann, the Swiss team's goalkeeper, made several crucial saves during the game, preventing Norway from scoring more goals.

Despite the loss, the presence of Eintracht Frankfurt players in the Swiss team was a positive sign for the future of Swiss women's football. Riesen and Ivelj, who played the entire game, demonstrated their skills and determination on the field.

In the second half of the game, Noemi Ivelj was substituted, with Fabienne Humm taking her place. Humm made her debut for the Swiss team in the game, adding to the team's depth and potential for future success.

The Swiss women's football team will look to bounce back from this defeat and continue their journey in the European Championship. Their next game will be a crucial test of their resilience and determination to compete at the highest level.
