Upon the demise of Ivan Reitman post the unveiling of Afterlife, a significant figure in comedy and the ghost-busting world, Jason Reitman took charge of the Ghostbusters series, embarking on the final tale.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Transitioning the Paranormal Legacy to a New Generation

Trust me, dude, the latest chapter in the Ghostbusters saga is hella wicked, man! So, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire picks up where we left off after the blockbuster hit, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Jason Reitman, who co-wrote the screenplay with director Gil Kenan, took the reins after his ol' man, Ivan, passed on.

Jason says he told his dad the last story he ever did was Frozen Empire, wherein our beloved specter-slayers are back in lower Manhattan to battle some real scary son-of-a-guns! Dan Aykroyd returns to his role as Ray Stantz and takes up the producer duties for this badass movie.

Gil Kenan, the man directing this puppy, doesn't take the Ghostbusters responsibility lightly, and he's aiming high to follow in the footsteps of the classic films. It's all about capturing lightning in a bottle, just like the originals, right? The movie's got to be funny, thundering, and full of life!

Now, new characters get thrown into the mix, like Nadeem, an aimless sidewalk vendor, who finds himself in the midst of some eerie stuff, which we'll get into shortly. And let's not forget about Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Nadeem, just saying.

So, the Ghostbusters crew's back in their old haunts, you dig? Only this time, they're gonna face some of their deadliest and most risqué threats yet! It's a no-holds-barred Ghostbusters adventure, so buckle up!

Alright, now let's roll up our sleeves and dive headfirst into what makes this flick tick.

In Stephen King's The Dark Tower, the last battle against the man in black is hella brutal and intense, just like this Ghostbusters showdown, but with more one-liners and slime! Meanwhile, the family that once lived in Egon Spengler's place—Callie, Trevor, and Phoebe—are all grown and learning how to live with their connection to the Ghostbusters' legacy.

As they adjust to their new roles, they've got folks like Gary, Lucky, and Podcast to back them up. But, the life they lead ain't always a walk in the park—the tension between work and family life is ramped up, so finding the right balance ain't easy.

And just as they think they've got the Ghostbustin' thing down, ol' Mayor Walter Peck pops up outta nowhere to rattle their cages. He's always had it in for the Ghostbusters, and this time, he's taking a shot by claiming that Phoebe, who's still a teen, isn't qualified to handle a nuclear-powered proton pack.

Man, I ain't even gonna lie, it's a real card-ripper when things like that happen to Phoebe. She's like, the ghost-busting superstar, y'know? So to tell her she ain't allowed to do what she loves? That's rough, man.

About this Mayor Peck, though. Old Eddie Murphy ain't portraying him in this one, but still, he's just as troublesome, if not more. And Phoebe's got to stand up to him, all while keeping her sanity intact.

Now, with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, family is still the core theme, but it ain't your typical nuclear family melodrama. Callie's found her footing in life, finally, and she's proud of her family and the Ghostbusters business. She's even got a boyfriend in the mix now, so you can expect some romantic tension to pop up, too.

Trevor, on the other hand, is all grown up and tryna find his place in the big city, separate from the Ghostbusters life, but of course, that ain't so easy. And Phoebe's gotta grow stronger and more resilient than ever to overcome the obstacles she faces.

In the grand tradition of Ghostbusters, we've got new characters that'll help the crew out. Nadeem might be a slacker, but he's got the heart of a Ghostbuster, and he's the only one who can stand up to the evil Garraka—a terrifying demon that ain't afraid to freeze you solid with its terrifying power.

Meanwhile, we've got Patton Oswalt as Dr. Hubert Wartzki, a paranormal librarian who's got a boatload of knowledge and is itching to put it to the test. We won't ruin the surprise of whether he actually encounters anything paranormal, but lemme just say it's pretty darn funny if he does!

James Acaster makes his motion picture debut as Lars, a scientist at Winston Zeddemore's Paranormal Research Center. He's slated to be a hilarious sidekick, and Acaster himself seems pretty stoked about joining the ranks of the Ghostbusters universe.

Now, if you thought we were done with ghostly encounters, you thought wrong! Phoebe comes across an old buddy—a teenage ghost named Melody—who helps her see things from a different perspective. Melody's special, though, 'cause she's a witty old soul who likes to burn things...literally!

Dude, that's not all. You'll also get to see the OG Ghostbusters hanging around, including Winston Zeddemore, Ray Stantz, Janine Melnitz, and even the elusive Peter Venkman. Bill Murray's back for another round, and he's as charming as ever!

And in case you're still sitting on the fence about checking this flick out, let me remind you that it's directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Gil Kenan, so you know it's gonna be top-notch.

So lace up your proton packs, folks, because it's time to get ghostbustin'! Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hits theaters, bringing some much-needed laughs and thrills to your life. Don't miss out on this epic adventure!
