Bass plant relief in occupational safety guidelines - Cabinet decision on Wednesday - Germany's SPD-Led Labor Ministry to Simplify Workplace Safety Rules, Streamline Skilled Immigration
The SPD-led Labor Ministry, under Bärbel Bas, is set to introduce significant changes to workplace safety rules and business immigration. The federal cabinet is expected to approve these measures on Wednesday, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and save businesses nearly €200 million annually.
One of the key changes involves the appointment of safety officers. Currently, companies with fewer than 50 employees must have at least one appointed safety officer. Under the new rules, this requirement will be lifted, providing relief to small businesses.
Furthermore, larger businesses with up to 250 employees will be allowed to limit their designated safety officers to just one. This change aims to simplify safety management without compromising workplace safety.
To facilitate skilled labor immigration, the government plans to establish a digital agency called the Work-and-Stay Agency. This initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline immigration processes and attract skilled workers to Germany.
These changes, part of a package of eight measures, are expected to reduce the administrative burden on businesses and public administration. The government's goal is to relieve citizens and businesses of unnecessary red tape, fostering a more agile and competitive business environment.
