Germany's SEFE receives first LNG shipments from Oman ahead of schedule

Germany's state-owned gas supplier SEFE has begun receiving its first shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman. The deliveries mark the start of a long-term agreement signed last year, with no disruption from ongoing tensions in the Gulf region.

In 2023, SEFE finalised a four-year contract with Oman LNG, securing annual deliveries of 0.58 billion cubic meters. The deal was set to commence in 2026, but initial shipments have now arrived ahead of schedule.

The company confirmed that current geopolitical developments, including the conflict involving Iran, have not impacted the transport of LNG. The first cargoes reached Germany as planned, reinforcing the country's energy supply strategy.

The early arrival of Omani LNG strengthens SEFE's position as a key gas provider in Germany. With deliveries proceeding smoothly, the company remains on track to fulfil its long-term supply commitments starting in 2026.
