The UEFA Women's European Football Championship 2025 is heating up, with the quarter-final match between France and Germany set to take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 21:00 CET in Basel, Switzerland.

France, who topped Group D with three wins from three matches, finished the group stage with 9 points. On the other hand, Germany, the defending champions, finished as runners-up in Group C with 6 points, behind Sweden. Both teams have shown strong form, making this quarter-final a highly anticipated encounter.

France secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 4:2 victory over the Netherlands in their final group game. The French team scored five goals in the match, with Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Delphine Cascarino, Sandie Toletti, and Sakina Karchaoui (penalty) all finding the back of the net. Notably, Cascarino scored three goals in the second half.

Meanwhile, England advanced to the quarter-finals after a slow start against Wales. A penalty converted by Georgia Stanway gave England an early lead, but Wales fought back with a late goal from Hannah Cain. However, Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp, Alessia Russo, Beth Mead, and Aggie Beever-Jones also scored for England, securing their place in the knockout round.

Sweden will be England's opponent in the quarter-finals on Thursday. This match will take place in Zurich at 21:00 CET. The tournament debutants, Wales, were unable to advance beyond the group stage.

This quarter-final is expected to be a competitive encounter, with both teams among the top contenders for the championship. The winner will advance to the semi-finals, where they will face either Norway or Italy, who are set to play on July 16, or Spain or Switzerland, who will play on July 18.
