Donations for the Weakest - Germany’s iconic telethon returns to transform kids’ lives this December
Germany’s biggest charity telethon, A Heart for Children, returns this December with a live gala hosted by Johannes B. Kerner. The event will bring together German and international stars to raise funds for kids in need. Organised by Bild hilft e.V., the evening promises emotion, empathy, and a chance to change young lives.
A Heart for Children was launched in 1978 under Bild hilft e.V. to support German projects like soup kitchens, hospitals, and schools. Over the years, its reach has grown, helping families and initiatives in 58 countries last year alone.
The telethon will air on ZDF on Saturday, December 6, at 8:15 PM, coinciding with St. Nicholas Eve. Viewers can expect a mix of performances and heartfelt stories, all aimed at encouraging donations. Last year’s campaign, backed by Axel Springer, raised over €27 million for aid projects worldwide.
In recent months, the initiative funded 1,380 life-changing surgeries for kids. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports these efforts. ZDF and Bild have teamed up to ensure the evening leaves a lasting impact.
The telethon’s success depends on public generosity, with all funds going toward medical care, education, and emergency relief. Donations will continue to transform lives, offering hope to kids and families facing hardship. The event remains a cornerstone of Germany’s charitable efforts each holiday season.
