The Ifo Institute's index, based on around 9,000 responses from companies across various sectors, indicates a stall in the decline of new orders in manufacturing. Capacity utilization also saw a slight uptick. Driving this improvement is a strengthened sentiment in Germany's manufacturing sector, bolstered by a brighter outlook.
The services sector also contributed to the positive trend, with the tourism and IT services industries performing significantly well. Retail in Germany saw an upturn in business confidence, particularly in wholesale trade, fueled by less pessimistic expectations. However, the construction industry assessed its current business as noticeably better but turned more pessimistic in its expectations.
