There are group of people holding placards and walking. These are the trees. I can see small bushes. This is the banner. I can see a building with name boards attached to it. These look like cars. I think these are the current polls.

Donations Decline in the North - Germany’s Donations Plummet 14% in 2025 Amid Economic Strain

Donations across Germany have dropped sharply in 2025. From January to September, total giving fell by 14% compared to the same period last year. The decline has been particularly noticeable in northern Germany, where contributions also shrank significantly.

In the first nine months of 2025, total donations nationwide reached €2.8 billion. This marks a steep decline from the €3.26 billion recorded in the same period of 2024. The German Donation Council points to economic pressures as the main cause, including persistent inflation, rising living costs, and concerns over future pensions and care expenses.

The decline in donations reflects broader economic challenges facing households. With fewer people giving and smaller average amounts, charities and non-profits may face funding shortfalls. The German Donation Council’s forecast suggests the situation is unlikely to improve by the end of the year.
