Germany's Cabinet Retreat Kicks Off With Focus on Competitiveness

The federal government's two-day cabinet retreat kicked off Tuesday in Berlin, with a focus on German competitiveness. Professor Markus Brunnermeier of Princeton University will deliver the opening speech, followed by discussions on state modernization and contributions from industry leaders.

Brunnermeier, a German economist born in 1969, specializes in economic crises and monetary policy. His expertise will set the tone for the retreat's first watch. On Wednesday, Minister of Digitalization Karsten Wildberger will delve into the planned 'state modernization'. The retreat, held at Villa Borsig by the Tegeler See, brings together key figures to address Germany's competitiveness.

Grazia Vittadini of the Lufthansa Group and Gerd Chrzanowski of the Schwarz Group will also share insights on the first day, providing valuable perspectives from the private sector.
