Bob and Skeleton Federation Targets 11 Medals at Olympics - Germany’s bobsleigh team targets nine Olympic medals with safety-first approach
The German Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (BSD) has set ambitious targets for the upcoming Olympic season. President Thomas Schwab has aimed for a minimum of nine medals, with a maximum goal of eleven. The federation is determined to win at least one medal in every discipline.
The bobsleigh team is wasting no time in their pursuit of these medals. Straight after the season-opening press conference, they will head to the host city to begin their preparations. Safety is a top priority for the federation. A new prototype bobsled with a Roll Cage System was unveiled at the Allianz Center for Technology (AZT) to enhance safety measures. The Institute for Research and Development of Sports Equipment (FES) in Berlin is also working on a Head Impact Protection (HIP) system for the safety cell in bobsleds.
The lugers have already had a chance to test the new Olympic track in Cortina d'Ampezzo and returned with enthusiasm. The relevant committees of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) are currently discussing with various bobsled manufacturers on how to implement these safety improvements.
The BSD's commitment to safety and success is clear. With the new prototype bobsled and the ongoing development of the HIP system, the federation is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for Olympic glory. The lugers' enthusiasm after testing the new track in Cortina d'Ampezzo further fuels the optimism for the upcoming season.
