Environment Minister Schneider: Berlin Supports International Climate Finance - Germany Reaffirms Global Climate Commitment Amid Criticism and New EU Targets

German Environment Minister Schneider has reaffirmed Germany's commitment to international climate finance, pledging a substantial sum. He sees the planned reduction in aviation ticket taxes as part of a broader climate protection strategy.

Schneider emphasised the importance of global cooperation in climate change and adaptation to rainforest changes. He highlighted Germany's agreement with the EU on a 2040 climate target and its commitment to achieving climate neutrality by 2045.

Responding to criticisms, Schneider firmly rejected claims that Germany has faltered in its climate leadership role. He stressed that the climate fund, aimed at supporting countries like Brazil during its COP presidency, is not under immediate pressure and is expected to launch in the next one to two years.

Minister Schneider's commitment to international climate finance and cooperation signals Germany's continued dedication to climate change protection. While the climate fund launch is not imminent, Schneider's actions demonstrate Germany's resolve in maintaining its climate leadership position.
