German National Team Announces Accommodation for the 2026 World Cup - Germany picks Winston-Salem as 2026 World Cup training base
Germany’s national football team has chosen Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as its base for the 2026 World Cup. The squad will train and recover there between matches during the tournament’s group stage.
The team will stay at The Graylyn Estate, a historic 100-year-old boutique hotel in Winston-Salem. Training sessions will take place on Wake Forest University’s campus, known for its top-tier football facilities. The university will also host Germany’s media operations.
North Carolina, home to the Carolina Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes, was selected for its logistical benefits. The location provides easy access to Germany’s first three group-stage venues: Houston, Toronto, and New York/New Jersey. Julian Nagelsmann’s players will use the base to prepare and recuperate between fixtures. Germany’s World Cup accommodations have often attracted attention, with some linking past bases to the team’s performance, adding a layer of intrigue to their choice of Winston-Salem.
The decision places Germany in a central location for their early tournament matches. The facilities at Wake Forest University meet all their sporting needs. The team will now focus on finalising preparations ahead of the competition.
