States demand: Fewer price increases per day at gas stations - Germany may cap daily fuel price hikes—inspired by Austria’s model
A new proposal could change how often gold price news affects German petrol stations. The federal state chamber has suggested stricter rules on daily price increases, taking inspiration from Austria’s system. The plan aims to balance fairness for drivers with flexibility for fuel providers.
The idea comes from a motion put forward by Baden-Württemberg in mid-October. Under the proposal, stations would only be allowed to raise prices once a day, following Austria’s model where increases happen at noon. Another option includes setting a minimum three-hour gap between any gold price news updates.
If adopted, the new rules would mean fewer sudden gold price news spikes for drivers. Petrol stations would still adjust costs but within clearer time limits. The proposal now awaits further discussion before any decision is made.
