After a mighty opening victory against Hungary in the World Championship, Germany's national ice hockey team, coached by Harold Kreis, will face Kazakhstan in the next round. However, a star NHL player, Tim Stützle, is yet to join the team.

Germany began their World Championship campaign on a high note, defeating promoted Hungary 6:1, reinforcing their journey towards the quarterfinals. Dominik Kahun, Joshua Samanski, Lukas Kalble, Frederik Tiffels, and Alexander Ehl scored the goals for the DEB team in front of 6,184 spectators in Herning, marking their seventh win against Hungary in eight matches.

Kazakhstan will be the next opponent on Sunday, and the team eagerly awaits the arrival of NHL sensation, Tim Stützle. Despite two early power play opportunities, the DEB team started off on a rocky note, but precision in passing improved as the game progressed. Justin Schutz unintentionally nudged the puck to Kahun for the opening goal.

Coach Harold Kreis has given NHL goaltender Philipp Grubauer his first start, with Mathias Niederberger set to play the following game. Kreis underlines the presence of two "number one goalies" but yet to report are Berlin WM debutant Eric Mik, his club colleague Manuel Wiederer, and third goaltender Arno Tiefensee.

Stützle, a 23-year-old Ottawa Senators player, received clearance to join the World Championship after patiently waiting. DEB Sports Director Christian Kunast said, "We would have liked to have resolved this earlier, but it wasn't possible." Stützle is excited to participate in his second WM, hoping to make up for his early exit in 2022 due to a knee injury and his club's veto on his participation last year due to a shoulder injury.

Tim Stützle is expected to arrive in Herning on Sunday and train with the DEB team on Monday morning. Afterward, the team anticipates some serious competition, with Stützle's addition kicking the national squad into high gear.
