Meteorologists Predict Snow in the Upper Harz Region - Germany braces for snow, storms, and heavy rain this weekend
The German weather service, Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), has issued warnings for the weekend and early next week. Snow, strong winds, and heavy rain are expected in various regions.
Starting Saturday, gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour are predicted along the North Sea coast and in the northwest. The East Frisian Islands may experience even stronger winds, reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour. These winds, along with prolonged rainfall between East Frisia and the Oderbruch region, could cause travel disruptions.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy and rainy, with temperatures remaining nearly unchanged. Lower Saxony residents should brace for cold, wet, and stormy weather. Drivers in the Upper Harz at night should exercise caution due to potential icy roads.
Monday brings a mix of weather. The Harz highlands are likely to see snow, with highs around 3°C. Occasional sunshine and scattered showers are expected along the coast, with isolated thunderstorms possible later in the day. Snow is also possible in the higher elevations of the Harz Mountains early in the week.
The DWD advises residents to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions for the upcoming weekend and early next week. Snow, strong winds, and heavy rain could impact travel and daily activities.
