Germany and Israel Practice Defense Against Cyber Attacks - Germany and Israel unite in landmark Blue Horizon cyber defence drill
Germany and Israel have completed their first joint cyber defence exercise, named Blue Horizon. The drill marks the first practical step under a cybersecurity agreement signed between the two nations in January. Officials from both countries took part in simulations designed to test responses to major cyber threats.
The exercise brought together experts from Israel's National Cyber Directorate and German cyber specialists. Their focus was on improving coordination, refining crisis procedures, and developing a shared approach to handling large-scale attacks.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt highlighted the importance of the drill. He stated that it would strengthen both countries' ability to counter severe cyber incidents. The long-term aim is to build a German Cyber Dome, modelled on Israel's existing defence framework.
Participants worked on aligning protocols and fostering better working relationships. The goal was to speed up response times and ensure smoother collaboration during real-world cyber emergencies.
The Blue Horizon exercise sets the foundation for deeper cybersecurity cooperation between Germany and Israel. Future efforts will focus on establishing a German Cyber Dome to mirror Israel's system. This initiative aims to bolster defences and create a faster, more unified response to cyber threats.
