TV Star Announces Retirement - German TV Legend Andreas Schmidt-Schaller Retires After 50-Year Career
Veteran German actor Andreas Schmidt-Schaller, aged 79, is retiring from his acting career after over five decades in the industry. The decision comes as he wishes to spend more time with his family and find peace.
Schmidt-Schaller rose to prominence playing investigator Thomas Grawe in the long-running TV series 'Polizeiruf 110' from 1986 to 1995. Throughout his career, he appeared in numerous TV shows, including 'Erzgebirgskrimi', 'In aller Freundschaft', 'Bettys Diagnose', and 'Das Traumschiff'. In his final years, he portrayed forester Georg Bergelt in 'Das Traumschiff'.
He also took on the role of Hajo Trautzschke in 'SOKO Leipzig'. Schmidt-Schaller has resided in a Berlin retirement home since 2021.
