In a massive display of talent and teamwork, Germany's U21 handball team has clinched their spot in the main round of the World Cup. They put on a dominant show against Switzerland, clinching the game 43:33 (21:14). After their hard-fought 30:29 victory against Serbia, they're ready for the next stage.

Facing an overmatched Swiss side who had previously triumphed against Tunisia with a score of 41:31, the game was surprisingly one-sided from the start. Even seasoned international coach Alfred Gislason was taken aback by the ruthless German youth, commending their stellar performance. "The boys were on fire," he said. "I anticipated a tight game, but our team stormed out of the gate and it seemed like a done deal by the 20-minute mark."

Some of the world champions of 2023 have already been promoted to the senior national team, and several of these young stars have proven their mettle in the male national team as well. Nils Lichtlein, goalkeeper David Späth, Renars Uscins, and Justus Fischer are just a few examples. Gislason acknowledged the strong show put up by the backs, in addition to the standout performance of the wingers. "Henri Pabst had an outstanding first half, and both goalkeepers were solid," he claimed.

Preparing for their final match in the title defense project against Tunisia on Saturday (9 pm/Dyn), eight players from the victorious 2023 team will be back in action. The most prolific German scorers on the day were Henri Pabst of THW Kiel and Tim Gömmel of HC Erlangen, each scoring eight goals. In the main round, the DHB juniors will square off against Spain and African champions Egypt, promising some challenging encounters. "We'll hold our own against Spain, and if we play like we did today, we can go toe-to-toe with them," said U21 captain Pabst.

First-time hosts Poland are organizing this year's IHF Men's U21 Handball World Championship, which is scheduled to run from June 18 to June 29, 2025[1][4]. The tournament features teams from all over the globe, and both teams will aim to capitalize on their strong showings in the preliminary rounds to secure even greater success in the main event.
