"Knowledge that kills" - Second case for the "Protector" - German Thriller The Protector Returns with a Deadly Hydrogen Energy Conspiracy

The German TV thriller The Protector: Knowledge That Kills is set to return after a four-year break. The film follows a bodyguard tasked with shielding a widow and her son after a shocking murder. It premieres on ARD on March 21, 2023, at 8:15 PM.

The story begins when hitmen kill a scientist at a Hamburg tech startup. His brother, Eduard Raabe, played by Jan Krauter, becomes entangled in the aftermath. The murdered man's company had been researching hydrogen energy, a discovery that may have led to his death.

Bodyguard Jan Schäfer, portrayed by Tobias Oertel, steps in to protect the victim's widow and her young son. Alongside his colleague Ilka Freuding, he moves into the family's home to keep them safe. The mission escalates into a deadly chase, featuring a chaotic shootout at a car wash and a final confrontation at Schäfer's farm. As the plot unfolds, layers of deceit and danger emerge. The bodyguard must navigate a web of lies while ensuring the family's survival. By the end, the high-stakes game reaches a resolution—one that leaves the protagonists unharmed.

The film blends action with suspense, centring on a race to uncover the truth behind the murder. Its premiere on March 21 marks the revival of a series last seen in 2019. Viewers will see whether the thriller's mix of family drama and corporate intrigue resonates with audiences.
