The Award Ceremony Finds a New Home - German Television Awards 2026 Relocates to Cologne's Confex Center for a Bigger Stage
The German Television Awards will shift to a new location in 2026. The ceremony, now in its two-night gala format, will take place at Cologne's recently opened Confex Center. Organisers believe the move will bring fresh energy to the event and highlight its growth over the years.
For the past four years, the awards were hosted at the MMC Studios in the Coloneum. Next year's main event will move to the Confex Center in Cologne's Deutz district. The venue change aims to give the ceremony a more prominent stage.
The celebrations will begin on September 8 with the 'Night of the Creatives' at Flora, a separate event honouring behind-the-scenes professionals. The following evening, September 9, the main gala will present craft category awards and the honorary prize at the Confex Center. Both nights will be broadcast in primetime on RTL.
Inga Leschek, Chief Content Officer of RTL Germany and chair of the 2026 German Television Awards Foundation, shared her enthusiasm for the new venue. Nominations will cover works released between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, with an independent jury selecting the finalists.
The 2026 German Television Awards will mark a new chapter with its relocation to the Confex Center. The two-night gala will continue to recognise excellence in television, with the main ceremony airing live on RTL. The shift in venue reflects the event's ambition to evolve and attract wider attention.
