German Police Bust Human Smuggling Ring, Rescue Bangladeshi National
Federal Police in Germany have uncovered a human smuggling operation in the city of Forest. Four men, aged 24 to 34, were arrested, and a Bangladeshi national was found hidden in the trunk of a car registered in Estonia, driven by a 50-year-old Ukrainian with an Estonian residence permit. The Ukrainian driver is now in pre-trial detention, accused of suspected human smuggling. The four men in the car, all from Latvia, were found with asylum certificates but no valid German residence documents. A one-handed knife was also confiscated from the vehicle. The Bangladeshi national found in the trunk was handed over to the Brandenburg State Central Foreigners' Authority for deportation proceedings. The suspected smuggling victims were taken into custody, and investigations for suspected illegal entry and residence were initiated. Several mobile phones were seized during the incident. The Federal Police are leading the investigation, with the support of local law enforcement authorities. The case highlights the ongoing issue of human smuggling and the importance of international cooperation in combating such crimes.
