Celebrating the Nation's Brave Hearts: Veteran's Day in Wolfsburg

Get ready, Wolfsburg! Sunday, June 15th marks our nation's inaugural National Veteran's Day. Catching the spirit, the city of Wolfsburg will drape its municipal buildings in flags, paying homage to the service and commitment of our military heroes.

Waving Flags High in Honor

The German Bundestag established the Veteran's Day back in April 2024. Its mission? To boost society's acknowledgement of the nearly ten million veterans in Germany and showcase their dedication to democracy, peace, and security. In the future, Wolfsburg plans to join this crusade with even more fervor, a city statement reveals.

Mayor Dennis Weilmann shares a heartfelt sentiment: "The Veteran's Day offers a long-awaited display of respect for all those who've put their brave hearts on the line for our country. Amidst today's escalating security concerns, their service demands acknowledgement and public backing. Wolfsburg stands shoulder to shoulder with its military - even beyond active duty."

Honoring Our Heroes

Before the festivities, on Friday, June 13th, Weilmann extended a warm welcome to troops from the Kreisverbindungskommando of the German Armed Forces and the Reservist Association Wolfsburg at a town hall reception. This gesture of gratitude sets the stage for greater public acclaim next year.

Keeping in Touch

Wolfsburg's role in the Veteran's Day signifies solidarity with the national endeavor, as well as supporting a local focus on promoting an active veteran and fallen soldiers' culture in Germany - rooted in compassion, respect, and social responsibility.

As the big day rolls in, don't miss the Concert of Hanover Army Music Corps, supported by the Reservist Association, a staple event in the city's calendar. This alignment promises to underscore the city's unwavering bond with the Bundeswehr and its members.
