The German Armed Forces have been delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip since August 1, 2025, as part of Jordan’s Operation “Solidarity Path.” This operation, which is planned to continue for about three weeks, involves two A400M transport aircraft dropping food and medical supplies via parachute [1][3].

Since the commencement of the operation, 18 flights have been executed, with two more scheduled for Wednesday [4]. The aid was delivered on 386 pallets, but one incident occurred where a parachute failed to open, though fortunately, there were no injuries on the ground [5].

In addition to airdrops, Germany is providing substantial ground support focusing on health care, such as supplying patient monitors, defibrillators, blankets, hygiene products, and supporting a field hospital. Germany is also funding organizations to build water desalination and treatment facilities and providing emergency shelters and tents for displaced people in Gaza [1].

The humanitarian aid is intended to land in designated drop zones, and a comprehensive risk management system is in place to prevent anyone on the ground from being hit. Satellite images are used for risk management and drop zone selection [2].

The situation in Gaza is dire, with a famine spreading, according to representatives [6]. This crisis has been exacerbated by a near-total blockade on humanitarian supplies, imposed by Israel in March [7]. The blockade has since been eased following increasing international criticism.

Representatives of 26 Western states and the EU Commission urged Israel on Tuesday to allow more humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip [8]. The aid efforts are being organized with other states, including France and the UK, and the United Nations [2][4].

Humanitarian organizations view the operation as better than nothing, but express skepticism about its effectiveness. The reasons for skepticism include high costs and low quantities of aid [9]. The German government and officials stress the need for the Israeli government to allow safe and massive delivery of aid by land, which airdrops alone cannot fully replace [1][3][4].

The situation will be reassessed after a week, and the German Armed Forces plan to continue their aid efforts for at least another week [10]. This provides a comprehensive picture of Germany’s current humanitarian efforts in Gaza involving military airlifts and broader humanitarian assistance.

  1. The German government is providing ground support to Jordan's Operation "Solidarity Path" in the Gaza Strip, which includes supplying health care equipment, funds for water facilities, and emergency shelters, aiming to enhance the service and general news amid the ongoing war-and-conflicts and political tensions.
  2. In the face of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with a famine spreading and humanitarian supplies blocked by Israel, representatives from 26 Western states and the EU Commission, including Germany, have urged Israel to allow more aid, which remains better than nothing but raises concerns about high costs and limited quantities, as the situation is being closely monitored for potential further action.
