German Hobby Champion Titled
Meolie Jauch, German Gymnastics Champion, Embraces New Challenges
Meolie Jauch, the acclaimed German gymnastics champion, is embarking on a new journey this week as she travels to Paris to test a cutting-edge landing pit for her club, TS NeckarGym Nuertingen.
This visit comes after a significant hiatus from elite gymnastics, which Jauch announced in December 2024, citing mental health reasons. Her retirement caused a stir not just in the gymnastics scene but beyond, leading to a series of revelations about the sport's darker side.
However, Jauch seems to have found solace in her hometown of Nürtingen after her retirement. She dropped by the town at the end of 2024, drawn by the relaxed atmosphere and old acquaintances. Since then, she has been training three times a week, a far cry from her previous intense schedule of ten sessions per week.
Jauch's approach to athletics has become more relaxed and sustainable. She no longer believes in pushing herself to the point of pain. Her training plan is now flexible, decided anew before each unit, rather than following a fixed plan.
Interestingly, Jauch is currently competing in the second league in Nürtingen, not for MTV Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Her current coaching group in Nürtingen decided the (non-)plan for her training.
At the moment, Jauch doesn't have a specific goal to compete in a competition. Instead, she hopes to quickly step in front of the TV cameras as a moderator, preferably for children's television on ARD or ZDF, after she completes her schooling.
Jauch's unexpected win at the German Championships in Dresden last weekend was neither planned nor anticipated. Despite treating gymnastics primarily as a hobby, she excelled in competitions such as the 2025 German Championships. Her notable record includes multiple German Youth Championships and a balance of her gymnastics achievements with interests in CrossFit, Hyrox, and working as a Ninja Warrior moderator.
Following her Paris trip, Jauch plans to attend a French language course to prepare for her upcoming advanced course. The new landing pits, filled with foam chips, are essential for ambitious gymnastics clubs, providing a soft landing after jumps, twists, and other moves.
However, Jauch prefers to move on from the gymnastics scandal that was sparked by her retirement. Two coaches were suspended, and the Stuttgart public prosecutor's office is investigating the matter. Jauch's comeback on the uneven bars at the German Championships in Dresden was a provisional peak in her training. Her preparation for the event was different, including reduced gymnastics training, CrossFit, and a trip to Mallorca, not for training purposes.
Jauch is now supported by her childhood coach from the Stuttgart Artistic Gymnastics Forum, Ghazal Seilsepour, in Nürtingen. After the test in Paris, she will spend six days in Lloret de Mar with a friend, enjoying the nightlife.
