German Crime Hit *Nord bei Nordost* Smashes Ratings with 33% Audience Share

The German crime series Nord bei Nordost has broken another viewing record. On Tuesday, the show drew 881,000 viewers, securing a 33 percent audience share—the highest yet for the programme. Fans continue to embrace its mix of crime-solving and quirky characters, including a new investigator with a vintage Ford Mustang.

The series first aired in 2016, quickly gaining popularity with an average of 927,000 viewers and a 32 percent share. Even after seven years, its appeal remains strong, matching those early figures as recently as March 2023.

This success contrasts with another crime drama, The Dead of Salzburg, which faced uncertainty after its lead actor, Florian Teichtmeister, left two and a half years ago. Unlike that show, Nord bei Nordost has thrived, partly thanks to fresh additions like Cordelia Wege. She plays investigator Nina Hagen, a character known for her sharp instincts and a signature 1970s Mustang. The latest episode’s record ratings suggest the series is still growing. Its blend of humour, regional charm, and crime storytelling keeps audiences coming back.

Tuesday’s episode marks the highest audience share in the show’s history. With strong viewer loyalty and new characters like Nina Hagen, Nord bei Nordost shows no signs of slowing down. The series continues to stand out in Germany’s competitive crime drama scene.
