Düsseldorf Carnival Honours Its Contributors in Jubilee Medal Awards

The Düsseldorf Carnival, a cherished tradition in the Rhineland region, recently celebrated its jubilee session, marking a significant milestone in its history. This year's event, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the carnival, was filled with enhanced festivities, retrospectives, and the issuance of commemorative medals.

The medal awards, a symbolic honour bestowed upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the carnival, are highly respected within the community. This year, the jury selected the most beautiful examples of submitted medals, reflecting the jubilee session's inspiration on many carnival clubs.

In the society medals category, the Rather Aape received first place and a prize of 1111 euros. The Naërrischen Lohauser took third place with a prize of 888 euros, while the Düsseldorf-Narren secured second place with a prize of 999 euros. In the children's medals category, the Tonnengarde Niederkassel won first place with a prize of 444 euros, followed by the children's citizen guard in second place with a prize of 333 euros. The Kaiserswerther KG took fourth place with a prize of 111 euros, and the prince's guard of the city of Düsseldorf won third place with a prize of 222 euros.

A special prize was given to the successful medal of the Committee Düsseldorf Carnival. In the prince couple medals category, Heerdte KV with Peter V. won first place, followed by Sellerieprinz David I. in second place, and the Angermunder prince couple of 11 Pille Christoph and Diana in third place.

The prize ceremony took place at the local "En de Canon" at Zollstraße 7, with the designated prince couple, Markus and Nicole, also attending the event. The winning medals were initially covered with a bright red cloth, and all submitted medals were adorned on the parasol.

The medals were evaluated in various categories, including association medals, prince couples' medals, children's medals, and society medals. The children's medal of the city won ahead of the city works and the medal of the mayor in the association medals category. The jury, consisting of Tessa, Karl-Heinz Schmake, Michael Laumen, and Frank Dölle, oversaw the selection process.

These medals can be submitted to the Düsseldorf Carnival Support Association, which plays a crucial role in preserving and enriching the carnival culture. The medal awards and jubilee sessions serve both as honors for contributors and as celebratory milestones, reinforcing community bonds and pride while reflecting on the carnival's cultural and social impact over time.

While detailed specifics on the exact origins and evolution of these medals and jubilee sessions in Düsseldorf are not directly described, it is consistent with German carnival tradition that prizes and jubilees play a central role in recognizing local cultural heritage and engaging the community in festive remembrance and honor. The Düsseldorf Carnival, known for its rich customs and rivalry with nearby Cologne, maintains these practices to highlight the importance of carnival as a major cultural event in the Rhineland region.

The Düsseldorf Carnival, a significant part of the Rhineland region's pop-culture and social-media scene due to its annual jubilee sessions and colorful medal awards, recognizes its contributors in a symbolic way. This year's jubilee session, celebrating the carnival's 200th anniversary, saw various medals categories such as association medals, prince couples' medals, children's medals, and society medals being competitively judged, reflecting the carnival's deep roots in entertainment and celebrities tied to German pop-culture.
