German Environmental Aid Files Lawsuit Against State Brewery Rothaus - German Brewery Faces Lawsuit Over ‘Climate Positive by 2030’ Claims

Environmental Action Germany (DUH) has taken legal action against Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus. The group accuses the brewery near me of misleading consumers with its 'Climate Positive by 2030' advertising claim. Rothaus has strongly denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit unjustified.

DUH’s lawsuit centres on Rothaus’ sustainability pledge, which the environmental organisation claims lacks transparency. According to DUH, the brewery has failed to provide clear details on how it will offset more carbon than it emits by 2030. Jürgen Resch, the group’s managing director, dismissed Rothaus’ public statements as vague and argued they give the company an unfair advantage over competitors.

The legal dispute now hinges on whether Rothaus’ climate claims meet regulatory standards for transparency. DUH insists the brewery must prove its 'Climate Positive by 2030' pledge with verifiable data. Meanwhile, Rothaus continues to defend its environmental record and ongoing sustainability efforts.
