Germany's Preparations for EuroBasket 2025 Gain Momentum

The German basketball team is gearing up for the upcoming EuroBasket 2025 tournament, with a series of exciting matches lined up in the coming weeks.

In a thrilling test match against Slovenia, the German team emerged victorious with a score of 80:70, despite experiencing some weak phases during the game. The match, which took place in Mannheim, was attended by 13,631 spectators, as the SAP Arena was sold out for the occasion.

As part of their European Championship preparations, Germany will face Montenegro, Sweden, Lithuania, Finland, and Great Britain in the group stage. These games will take place in Tampere, Finland, starting from August 27. The German team will be led by captain Dennis Schröder in these matches, which mark their preliminary round in Group B.

Before the EuroBasket games, the team will compete in the group phase of the tournament. In a twist, however, the World Cup winners will not be playing in Mannheim, contrary to the location of the recent test match against Slovenia.

In preparation for the EuroBasket, Germany has two test matches against the defending champions Spain scheduled for August 21 and August 23, 2025. Slovenia was without NBA superstar Luka Doncic in the recent match, which could have influenced the outcome.

The German team recently secured a place in the title game of the 2025 DBB SuperCup international tournament, having edged Turkey with a close score of 73-71. This tournament will take place before the EuroBasket.

Franz Wagner was a standout player for the German team, scoring 17 points in the test match against Slovenia. The upcoming test matches against Spain, however, will not be held in Mannheim.

Key dates for the German team's schedule include:

  • August 21 and 23: Test matches vs. Spain
  • August 27: EuroBasket vs. Montenegro
  • August 29: EuroBasket vs. Sweden
  • August 30: EuroBasket vs. Lithuania
  • September 1: EuroBasket vs. Great Britain
  • September 3: EuroBasket vs. Finland

All group-stage EuroBasket games will be broadcast in Germany on Magenta Sport or FIBA's official streaming platform Courtside 1891. Let's cheer on the German team as they continue their unbeaten run in the European Championship preparations!

Germany will face Spain, the defending champions, in a pre-EuroBasket 2025 test match on both August 21 and August 23. The German team's NBA player, Dennis Schröder, will lead the team in these matches, which is part of their preparation for the NBA (National Basketball Association).
