Georgian Prime Minister engages in discussions with President Sheikh Mohamed during his formal visit to the country.
In a significant development, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed recently concluded an official visit to Georgia, marking the second engagement of the week following his visit to Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
Upon arrival at Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, Sheikh Mohamed was warmly received by the Georgian leader and senior officials. An official welcome ceremony was held, featuring the playing of both UAE and Georgia's national anthems.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohamed held talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at the Georgian government headquarters in Tbilisi. The discussions focused on strengthening ties in sectors such as investment, economy, agriculture, renewable energy, and sustainability. The leaders also reviewed progress made under a Comprehensive Economic Partnership (Cepa) signed in 2023.
Sheikh Mohamed's visit to Georgia was noteworthy as it resulted in the announcement of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and Azerbaijan. During his visit to Azerbaijan, the UAE-Azerbaijan Business Council was established, and deals were struck to boost partnerships in key sectors such as transport, energy, tourism, workforce development, and ship building.
Mr. Kobakhidze expressed Georgia's desire to expand its partnerships with the Emirates. This desire was further evident in the agreement witnessed between UAE real estate developer Eagle and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE's commitment to bolstering partnerships across the Caucasus region. He also met Bidzina Ivanishvili, honorary chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, as part of his visit.
Discussions between the leaders also included exchanging views on regional and international issues, with a focus on promoting peace and security.
Georgia is a popular tourism destination for UAE citizens and residents due to its proximity, visa-free travel, rich culture, and snow-capped mountains for skiing. At the conclusion of his official visit, Sheikh Mohamed departed Georgia from Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, bade farewell by Mr Kobakhidze and senior officials.
While there are no search results providing information about agreements signed between UAE Head of State Sheikh Mohamed and the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainability during his official visit to Georgia, the visit undoubtedly marks a significant step forward in the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
