Kakha Kaladze, a prominent Georgian politician and former professional footballer, is set to run for a third term as the Mayor of Tbilisi in the upcoming local elections scheduled for October 4, 2025. Kaladze, who is affiliated with the Georgian Dream party, has been serving as the Mayor of Tbilisi since 2017.
The Georgian Dream party officially nominated Kaladze as its candidate for the mayoral race during a party congress held at the end of July 2025. This nomination comes after Kaladze's successful re-election in 2021, marking his second term as Tbilisi's mayor.
Kakha Kaladze's political career began in 2017, when he was first elected as the Mayor of Tbilisi. Prior to his political career, Kaladze served as Georgia’s Minister of Energy and was known for his skills as a professional footballer.
