New Deputy Minister of Infrastructure in Georgia: Batu Gurjidze

Batu Gurjidze, an experienced economist with over 16 years of public sector experience, has been appointed as the fifth deputy to Georgia's Minister of Infrastructure, Revaz Sokhadze.

Gurjidze's career in the public sector began in 2009, marking a significant milestone in his journey in public financial management, budget planning, and economic analysis [1]. His key roles and achievements include serving as head of the Economic Department at the Ministry of Infrastructure since early 2025 and holding the same position for more than a decade at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.

Throughout his career, Gurjidze has led multiple departments related to financial policy, finance and budget, and economic analysis across various government ministries. This extensive experience has equipped him with the necessary skills to manage the economic and financial aspects of the Ministry of Infrastructure effectively.

Before his appointment, Gurjidze spent more than a decade serving as head of the Economic Department at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. His academic background, specifically in Economics, Commerce, and Marketing from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, further supports his expertise in these areas.

Gurjidze's appointment follows a restructuring that split the Ministry of Infrastructure from the Ministry of Regional Development. Ilia Begiashvili and Mzia Giorgobiani remain as deputy ministers following the restructuring. Giorgi Koberidze, Vakhtang Bagrationi, and now Batu Gurjidze have been appointed to Revaz Sokhadze's leadership team.

This appointment marks a significant step in the management of Georgia's infrastructure sector, with Gurjidze's extensive experience in public financial management, budget planning, and economic analysis expected to contribute positively to the sector's growth and development.
