Genesis, TGR Live, and PGA team up to support Southern California's fire recovery efforts in aid, labeled as "California Rises"
Genesis Invitational 2025 to Support Wildfire Relief Efforts
The highly anticipated Genesis Invitational golf tournament, hosted by Tiger Woods, is set to take place at Torrey Pines Golf Course from February 13-16, 2025. This year, the event will not only showcase top-tier golf but also serve as a platform for charitable initiatives, with a significant focus on supporting communities affected by California's wildfires.
Genesis, in partnership with TGR Live and the PGA TOUR, has launched a charitable initiative called "California Rises." The relief and recovery effort aims to provide aid to those impacted by the wildfires that have devastated parts of California, particularly the Los Angeles area.
José Múñoz, President and Global CEO of Genesis, stated that the company is committed to supporting these communities. The initiative will be central to the 2025 Genesis Invitational, with funds raised during the tournament directed towards the California Fire Foundation and other organisations such as the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation.
The tournament will feature several special elements designed to raise awareness and funds for wildfire recovery efforts. For instance, "Birdies for Good" will see a $300 donation made for each birdie and eagle, and a $10,000 contribution for each hole-in-one.
In addition, the tournament will debut "Chippin' In," a new PGA TOUR Studios content series hosted by Jason Kennedy and Jimmy Darts, featuring California natives Max Homa and Collin Morikawa. Their stories will be showcased during live broadcasts on GOLF Channel, CBS, and PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+.
First responders and wildfire survivors will be honoured throughout the tournament with special access, pro-am participation, and on-site recognition. The donated vehicles, including Genesis' popular GV70 and GV80 SUV models, will be given to nonprofit organisations to assist families and individuals who lost transportation in the fires.
California artist Jonas Never has designed a commemorative poster for the event, featuring the Genesis golf bear embracing the state of California. For more information or to contribute to California Rises, visit pgatour.com/CaliforniaRises.
The Genesis Invitational has a long history of community impact in Los Angeles, and this year's event promises to continue that tradition while also making a difference in the lives of those affected by the wildfires. Mike Antolini, tournament director, stated that they are honoured to use the event to support California Rises.
The Genesis Invitational 2025 is more than just a golf tournament; it's a testament to the power of sport to bring people together and make a positive impact. We encourage everyone to learn more about California Rises and consider supporting this worthy cause.
The Genesis Invitational 2025, aside from being a highly anticipated golf tournament, will also serve as a platform for the charitable initiative "California Rises," with the aim of providing aid to communities affected by California's wildfires. During the tournament, funds will be raised for the California Fire Foundation and other organizations, with contributions made for each birdie, eagle, and hole-in-one.
