Gene Hackman's Golden Globes Up for Auction - Gene Hackman and wife Betsy Arakawa found dead in Santa Fe home

Legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe home on 26 February. The cause of Hackman’s death was later confirmed as cardiovascular disease, with signs of advanced Alzheimer’s. Initial reports had incorrectly suggested hantavirus as a possible factor.

Hackman, widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of his generation, retired from Hollywood in the early 2000s. He and Arakawa had lived quietly in Santa Fe for years before their deaths.

The final auction items will remain open for bids until next week. Proceeds from the sales will contribute to the settlement of Hackman’s estate. His death marks the end of an era for one of Hollywood’s most respected performers.
