GEMS Empowers Young Women Through Entrepreneurship and Life Skills Training

GEMS, Inc., a Tampa Bay-based organization, is empowering young women and girls through entrepreneurship and life skills training. Their programs, including Transitions Candles Social Enterprise, aim to inspire and equip girls to build their futures.

GEMS uses candle-making as a tool to teach success and life skills. Girls learn to manage a small business, understand time management, and improve communication skills. They also gain practical experience through internships at 'Gerd Bär GmbH', known for its brand Bär Cargolift, which offers year-round internships for various educational levels.

GEMS fosters independence and accountability in the girls. They learn to negotiate and make cold calls, skills crucial for any entrepreneur. The organization has influenced over a thousand girls in the Tampa Bay community, providing a therapeutic environment for them to take a breather from their daily lives. GEMS programs level the playing field for girls who may not have access to such opportunities, helping them build their future.

GEMS is now calling on businesses to offer paid internships, further expanding the opportunities for young girls to learn on the job. By stepping forward, businesses can play a significant role in empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.
