Wetzlar High School Gymnasium begins their preparations for the forthcoming season. The team roster has been finalized, new team uniforms have been issued, and the inaugural training session is scheduled for July 16th.

Gearing Up for the New Season in Wetzlar

HSG Wetzlar, a renowned handball club, is preparing for the upcoming 2025/2026 Handball Bundesliga season with a fresh coaching duo and an exciting new squad. Momir Ilic and Vladan Jordovic have taken over as head coach and assistant coach respectively, while Matthias Ott serves as the goalkeeper coach.

The season's opening event is scheduled for August 24 at the Buderus Arena, with the first game of the season taking place between August 28 and 31. The exact dates for the first ten matchdays will be announced on July 18.

In addition to the established personnel, HSG Wetzlar has strengthened their team with some new additions. Egyptian national player Ahmed Nafea and 19-year-old Dutchman Hendrik Pantel, who is planned as the third goalkeeper, have joined the team. Both Nafea and Pantel have no prior experience playing in the Bundesliga.

Bart Ravensbergen (1) and Anadin Suljakovic (12) will be the goalkeepers for the 2025/2026 season. The centre players include Nikola Grahovac (2), Josip Simic (10), and Georg Löwen (33). The wing players are Cyrill Akakpo (20), Tizian Weimer (24), Lion Zacharias (50), and Ahmed Nafea (79).

The backcourt players include Filip Vistorop (4), Dominik Mappes (7), Niklas Theiß (9), Philipp Ahouansou (19), Jona Schoch (22), Justin Müller (25), and Stefan Cavor (77). Lukas Becher (18) and Tom Wolf (26/second license) are also part of the extended squad.

HSG Wetzlar has planned a training camp in Hollabrunn, Austria, on July 21, followed by test matches and participation in the Lindencup. The Lindencup will include matches against TV Hüttenberg and MT Melsungen.

Performance tests and medical check-ups for the players are scheduled at the beginning of the week. The first public training session will take place on Wednesday, July 16, in the sports hall in Dutenhofen.

Single tickets for the 2025/2026 season will be available for presale shortly after the matchday dates are announced. For more detailed information on the team's composition, including player names and positions, fans are encouraged to check the official HSG Wetzlar website or their social media channels.

The upcoming training camp in Hollabrunn, Austria, on July 21, is expected to feature some sports-related activities for HSG Wetzlar's fresh coaching staff and new players, such as Ahmed Nafea and Hendrik Pantel, who areJoining the handball squad with no prior Bundesliga experience. Following the camp, HSG Wetzlar will participate in the Lindencup, where they will play against TV Hüttenberg and MT Melsungen, adding an extra layer of competition as they gear up for the 2025/2026 Handball Bundesliga season.
