Great Britain Triumphs at the Coupe de la Jeunesse Rowing Competition

Great Britain's U19 rowing team made history at the 2025 Coupe de la Jeunesse rowing competition, securing the Men’s, Women’s, and Overall trophies at the Linz-Ottensheim Regatta Course. The team, consisting of 45 medal-winning rowers, showcased an impressive display of individual and collective excellence.

The men’s eight crew, featuring Ewan McVey (Hampton School), Sebastian Strecker (King’s College School, Wimbledon), Alexander Hoo (King’s College School, Wimbledon), and Edward Leckie (Eton College), were among the standout performers.

The team management and support staff played a crucial role in the success of the team. Neil Double served as the Team Manager, while Holly Furniss acted as the Assistant Team Manager. Tristan Mayglothling took on the role of Lead Coach, with Becs Vannozzi as the Team Physio, Juan Rosales as the Team Doctor, and Richard Follett as the Equipment Manager.

Holly Furniss praised the athletes and coaches for their performance, emphasizing the strength of domestic clubs and schools in Great Britain’s rowing development.

The team's achievements were not limited to one day. On Saturday, they won nine gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. Sunday saw another seven gold and four silver medals added to their tally.

Among the gold medal winners on Saturday were Lowri Cawdell, Hannah Corcoran, Sophie Lines, Bella McDonald, Lucy Pitt, Daniela Raguckaite, Amelia Rowbotham, Teagan Smith, and Charlotte Hodgkinson, who won the Women's eight (JW8+) trophy.

On Sunday, Maisie Brittles (Warrington Rowing Club) and Amy Clarke (Sir William Borlase's Grammar School) won gold in the Women's double sculls (JW2x). Selam Tewelde (Headington School, Oxford) and Dan Cooper (GB Rowing Team) also secured a gold medal in the Women's reserve single sculls (JW1x).

Other notable gold medal winners included Fraser Jones (Maidenhead Rowing Club) and Bailey Taylor (The Windsor Boys' School) in the Men's double sculls (JM2x), Jacopo Tans, George Petrow, Jack Frye, and Rupert Evans in the Men's four (JM4-), and Jonathan Cleugh, Isaac Morris, Thomas Pakulis, and Isaac Thornton in the Men's quadruple sculls (JM4x).

In the individual events, Daisy O'Reilly (Wycliffe College) won gold in the Women's single sculls (JW1x), while Max Roughton (Marlow Rowing Club) won gold in the Men's single sculls (JM1x).

The Men's pair (JM2-) was coached by James Dunley (St George's College Boat Club), and Victor Kleshnev (Maidenhead Rowing Club) was the coach for the Men's single sculls (JM1x). Meghan Hunter (Putney High School) was the coach for the Women's pair (JW2-), and Harry Lyons (Radley College) coached the Women's double sculls (JW2x).

Rufus Tilt (Kew House School) was the coach for the Men's double sculls (JM2x), and Eve Allen (Pangbourne College) and Phoebe Forward (Nottingham and Union Rowing Club) were coached by Dan Cooper in the Women's pair (JW2-). Lewie Harris (Hinksey Sculling School) was coached by Dan Cooper in the Men's reserve single sculls (JM1x).

Zach Holden (Latymer Upper School) and Raph Corbett (Latymer Upper School) competed in the Men's pair (JM2-). Hannah Al-Karmi, Kate Cohalan, Matilda Hudson-Hulls, and Seren Page won the Women's quadruple sculls (JW4x) trophy. Victor Bocquet, Edward Leckie, Joshua Coulter, Daniel McGregor, Ferdinand Hainlein, Jonathan Miles, and Alexander Hoo won the Men's eight (JM8+) trophy.

It's worth noting that forty-five out of forty-six selected British U19 rowers won medals, an impressive feat that underscores the depth of talent in the team. This success reflects both individual and collective excellence, supported by a dedicated coaching and support crew.
