Gazan emergency service discards Israeli investigation into the death of medics as a fabricated inquiry

Gaza's primary rescue service has slammed Israel's probe into the killings of 15 medical personnel last month, branding it a "fabricated investigation."

In a statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) expressed their concern over the investigation's integrity, affirming, "The occupation's steadfastness in cloaking the truth from the world."

On Sunday, the Israeli military revealed the findings of their investigation, attributing the fatal incident to "professional failures" and demoting a commander. However, the PRCS insists that this investigation is nothing more than a sham.

The tragedy of March 23 claimed the lives of 15 individuals—among them eight PRCS medics, six members of Gaza's Civil Defense unit, a United Nations staffer, and six alleged Hamas militants, according to the Israeli military report. Troops bulldozed the bodies along with their wrecked vehicles, burying them in a mass grave, leaving U.N. and rescue workers to uncover the grisly scene only a week later.

In condemning Israel's investigation, the PRCS highlights the purported militant affiliation of its medical teams, an allegation that the organization strongly denies without evidence. The PRCS also demands an explanation for the continued detention of a surviving paramedic.

"We implore the international community to steer clear of endorsing the results of this fabricated investigation," the PRCS pleads.

Contradictory evidence has surrounded the incident, raising alarm among humanitarian organizations. Initially, Israel asserted that the ambulances had no emergency signals and displayed suspicious behavior, leading the troops to open fire. However, cellphone footage unearthed from one medic revealed visible logos and flashing lights on the ambulances as they approached to aid another ambulance under attack.

The Israeli military initially claimed that six of the dead were Hamas militants, but evidence to support this claim remains scarce in public reports. Numerous sources describe international outrage at the tragedy, with some classifying it as a potential war crime.
