Gaza War Carnage Exposés by Al Jazeera's Fault Lines and Close Up Secure Peabody Awards in respective News & Documentary and Interactive & Immersive categories.

Al Jazeera Nabs Peabody Awards for Gaza Documentaries

Congratulations are in order for Al Jazeera Media Network, as they've scooped up two Peabody Awards – one of the top accolades in the broadcast storytelling biz. These prestigious prizes go to Al Jazeera English's Fault Lines documentary, The Night Won't End, in the News & Documentary category, and the digital film One Day in Gaza from the series Close Up, in the Interactive & Immersive category.

The 85th annual Peabody award winners were unveiled on May 1, 2025, with the glitzy ceremony in Los Angeles set for June 1, 2025. These accolades honor intelligent, heart-wrenching, and moving stories in both broadcast and digital media.

The Night Won't End is a hard-hitting exposé that unveils the heartbreaking human toll of war. It puts the spotlight on the appalling realities of the continuous Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza, the so-called "safe zones," and arbitrary executions, as seen through the eyes of three families during the war's early months.

The documentary focuses on distressing incidents like the death of five-year-old Hind Rajab, a child who tragically perished while awaiting rescue from a car where her family members had already met a violent end. Two medics dispatched to save her were also brutally taken out, as confirmed by a forensic watchdog agency.

Laila Al-Arian, the executive producer of Fault Lines, expresses her sentiments on the award: "We aimed through investigative journalism and on-the-ground storytelling to offer a glimpse of what life has been like for Palestinians in Gaza. This recognition helps bring more attention to this continuing story that the world needs to see."\

The Night Won't End has already accumulated numerous awards, including the International Current Affairs category at the Royal Television Society Awards in the UK, the Overseas Press Club prize for best TV, video or documentary about international affairs, and the long-form award from the Centre for Information Resilience Open-Source Film Awards.

One Day in Gaza, part of the Close Up series, offers an immersive perspective on the daily struggles and constant dangers faced by Palestinians living in Gaza under relentless bombardment. Moving forward, Al Jazeera continues to shine a light on untold stories and ensure the voices of those affected are heard on a global platform.
