Hangin' with the Right-wing Populists: Le Pen's Gathering of Far-right Leaders in Paris

Gathering of Right-wing Populist Leaders Held in France, Organized by Le Pen - Gathering of Right-leaning Populists in France, Hosted by Le Pen

You betcha, these right-wingers have been stirring the pot lately! Last month, Marine Le Pen hosted a crème de la crème gathering of far-right politicians and activists in the heart of Paris. The lineup included some heavy hitters - Matteo Salvini from Italy, Santiago Abascal from Spain, and even the former Czech PM, Andrej Babis.

These folks are all part of the far-right Europe of Nations and Freedom group in the ol' EU Parliament. You know, just a buncha freedom-lovin' folks who have their doubts about Brussels and them.

At this ~~shindig~~ summit, Viktor Orban spoke about "migrants" and demanded cities be protected from destruction, women and daughters from rape, and citizens from harm. Fun times, right? Salvini chipped in, claiming a "silent invasion" of Islamic illegal immigrants - an invasion he claimed was funded and organized by Brussels. He called on European patriots to team up and retake control of Europe's fate and future.

Le Pen herself is no stranger to controversy. Just a few months ago, she was handed a four-year prison sentence and forbidden from runnin' for office for five years thanks to accusations of misappropriatin' EU funds. But, don't count her out just yet! She's appealin' the sentence and promise to fight tooth and nail to run for president in 2027. Because, ya know, there's no party like a third-time-convicted party!

The get-together took place about two years before the next French presidential election - a.k.a. the Big Kahuna. But don't worry, domestic squabbles won't stop the far-right group from makin' waves. After all, the craziest things happen when they get together.

Fun Fact: This ain't the first time Europe's far-right parties got together for a hootenanny. Back in June 2025, they had another powwow – invitin' colleagues from Italy, Hungary, Poland, and Austria. The talks included discussions about nationalism, immigration policies, and puttin' the EU on a leash.

Meanwhile, French civil society groups, unions, and anti-fascist organizations are whippin' up a counter-event callin' it the "Village Antifasciste." They debuted it earlier this year to combat the rise of the far-right and promote unity against their values.

So buckle up, folks! The 2027 presidential election is shaping up to be a wild ride with Marine Le Pen and the National Rally gainin' momentum, Europeanfar-right parties grabbin' hold of national policies, and civil society groups counterin' with solidarity and activism. May the best ~~man~~ (er, person?) win!

The gathering in Paris unites various far-right political leaders, drawing attention to their collective focus on Europe's employment policy, given their disputes over Brussels' decisions. Amidst the upcoming French presidential election in 2027, this coalition's concerns and proposals coincide with the politics of general-news, weighing heavily on the nation's political discourse.
