Gathering of Jazz Musicians in Berlin

Every autumn, the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin hosts the Berlin Jazz Meeting, a three-day extravaganza showcasing the rich tapestry of jazz music. This annual event, an initiative of the Landesmusikrat Berlin, brings together up to 60 bands and over 400 musicians performing on three stages.

The Jazz Meeting is a melting pot of jazz styles, from swing and rock to blues and Latin. Performances range from solo acts to big bands, featuring a diverse lineup including children, youth, adults, and national jazz greats. This year's highlights included the Berlin and Brandenburg Youth Jazz Orchestras, as well as the studio prize winners 'Jazz'.

Conveniently located near U-Bahn stations U Eberswalder Str. (serving U2 and M1 lines), and Bus station Sredzkistr. (serving N2 line), the event ensures easy access for music enthusiasts. Tram stations 12, 50, M1, M13, and M10 are also nearby.

The Jazz Meeting serves as a platform for discussion, with roundtables providing insights into music schools and concert initiatives in the capital. Well-known personalities of the Berlin jazz scene serve as advisors, bringing musicians of different generations together.

Since 2013, the event has been officially titled: 'Youth plays jazz with the Skoda Jazz Award at the Berlin Jazz Meeting'. In even years, up-and-coming bands in small ensembles compete, while in odd years, big bands take the stage. The 2025 Jazz Meeting in Berlin featured musicians playing swing, rock, blues, and Latin styles, though their specific names are not publicly available.

More than just a talent showcase, the Berlin Jazz Meeting is a testament to the vibrancy of Berlin's jazz scene. Whether you're a seasoned jazz aficionado or a curious newcomer, the Berlin Jazz Meeting offers an unforgettable journey through the world of jazz.

The Landeswettbewerb 'Youth plays jazz' also takes place within the Jazz Meeting framework, featuring jazz ensembles like Bad Boys Club 57, Kids Groove, Brasil Ensemble, Die Tiere, Groove Department, Groove Lab, Haller Green, JayJayBeCe, Jazz Dogs, Jazzorchester Fhain-Xberg, and Junior Jazzband.

As the curtain falls on another successful Jazz Meeting, music lovers eagerly await the next edition, anticipating new talents, classic favourites, and the continued celebration of jazz in Berlin.
