Gathering of Faith Advocates on Social Media: Devout Individuals Gather in Germany

In the heart of Wiesbaden, the Overflow Church played host to over 250 creatives, influencers, and social media enthusiasts on 12 October. The event in question was the 'Social Media Night', organised by Createunity - a network of German Christians in social media.

The purpose of the night was to bring together this diverse community to network, share knowledge, collaborate, and celebrate social media culture and creativity. The event featured workshops, panel discussions, live performances, and opportunities to connect with others in the digital content and influencer space.

One of the highlights of the evening was a panel discussion featuring artists discussing their journey with Jesus as Creators. They shared insights into their personal stories, providing a unique perspective on the intersection of faith and creativity.

Theologian Evi Rodemann, in her presentation, advocated for taking faith into the public sphere to "make a difference together". She emphasised the power of community and the importance of creatives knowing their values, their definition of success, and their limits. Rodemann also discussed the mental challenges creatives face, suggesting they should look at their own inner compass for strength and health.

Another notable presentation was by theologian Daniela Mailänder, who emphasised the importance of creative people telling the story of Jesus Christ on social media. She described God as a strong support, giving creatives everything they need to create without pressure, knowing they are loved and enough.

The 'Creatunity App', developed by the organisers, aims to allow creatives to stay in touch until the next Social Media Night. It serves as a platform for continued collaboration among creatives, providing a space for networking and sharing ideas.

The event's theme was '#Madetocreate', offering specialist presentations, dialogues in 'niche groups', workshops, and opportunities for encounters. The night was not just about learning and networking, but also about celebrating the power of creativity and its role in shaping our world.

As part of the #OneMoreYearEF campaign, Evangelical Focus, a sustainability-focused initiative, encouraged people to join their mission. The organisation is facing a challenging year ahead and is seeking support from the community to continue its work.

The event was first published in German by PRO Magazin, a publication belonging to the Christian Media Initiative pro. It was a night filled with inspiration, collaboration, and a renewed sense of purpose for the creative community in Wiesbaden.
