Jump into the Action at Sports Fest by the Tankumsee
Mark your calendars for June 29th! The annual Sports Fest by the Tankumsee is back, promising a thrilling day for sports enthusiasts and casual spectators alike. Since its inception in 2001, this event has been a crowd-pleaser, attracting countless visits every year. The Samtgemeinde Isenbüttel and the City of Gifhorn, along with the Gifhorn County Sports Association and sports clubs, are joining forces to make this year's event spectacular.
To keep things exciting, a dragon boat race has been the star attraction since 2003. This year, an impressive 26 teams are gearing up to participate. Racing along a 200-meter course, each team of at least 14 and up to 18 paddlers, along with a drummer, will showcase their skills and teamwork. Dragon boats and helmsmen will be provided by the organizers. The Sparkassen-Cup (Fun-Cup) and the LSW-Cup (Fun-Sport-Cup) competitions will also return, while the Golden File Folder, Best Newcomer, and Sponsors' Cup will be up for grabs. The preliminaries begin at 1 PM, followed by the semi-finals at 2:30 PM, the nail-biting finals at 5 PM, and the award ceremony at 6 PM.
But that's not all! The Sports Fest by the Tankumsee offers a diverse mix of sports activities. Around 20 local clubs and organizations will ensure a day packed with adrenaline-pumping events. From watching performances on stage to participating in ground activities like a try-out scuba diving course, radball event, and a climbing tower, there's something for everyone. Sponsors such as AOK, BOC Gifhorn, Aller-Zeitung, Revital Sports Ladiesexpress, and Revital Aktiv und Gesund will also set up interactive activities at their stands.
To keep the energy high, a diverse stage program will run from 1 PM to 6:30 PM. Featuring Zumba, cheerleading, aerial acrobatics, and more, the stage will be set for a non-stop festival experience. Towards the evening, Maikel Tretschok will take over the stage with his country music tunes, setting the perfect mood for the award ceremony. For the full schedule, check out the event website.
