Gary Busey receives penalty for indecent physical touch in Cherry Hill court
In a recent sentencing hearing held in Camden County court, actor Gary Busey was sentenced to two years of probation following his guilty plea to one count of criminal sexual contact. The case stems from a 2022 horror film convention in Cherry Hill, specifically the Monster Mania convention held at a Cherry Hill hotel.
Busey, known for his roles in films such as "Lethal Weapon" and "Predator 2", was accused of groping several women during a photo session with fans at the convention. The charges were brought against him in the aftermath of the event.
During the hearing, Judge Gwendolyn Blue stated that probation was warranted due to the seriousness of the offense and Busey's prior contact with the criminal justice system. Three additional counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Busey appeared via Zoom from his home in California for the sentencing hearing. He declined to speak during the proceedings. His attorney had requested that Busey be sentenced to fines only, but the judge ordered him to pay fines following the conviction.
The judge also ordered Busey to have no contact with the victim. Busey has 45 days to appeal the sentence. He may request to transfer his probation to California.
It is important to note that this sentencing does not mark the end of the legal proceedings for Busey. The actor still faces civil lawsuits from several women who have accused him of similar behavior.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of respect and consent in all interactions, especially in public or professional settings. It is hoped that this sentence will send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
