Garrick Higgo Leads Sanderson Farms Championship After Round 2

South African golfer Garrick Higgo is leading the Sanderson Farms Championship after the second round, with a score of 13-under 131. This comes after he secured his PGA Tour card earlier this year by winning the Puntacana Championship.

Higgo shot a 6-under 66 on Friday, including a streak of three consecutive birdies towards the end of his round. He is one shot ahead of Eric Cole and Taylor Montgomery, who both shot 67 and 63 respectively. Danny Walker, Vince Whaley, and Tom Kim are three shots behind Higgo at 10-under par.

Higgo has previously played in the final group with Scottie Scheffler at the Procore Championship, from which he learned a lot about Scheffler's approach to the game. Despite this, Higgo is not overly concerned with his FedEx Cup ranking as he has already secured his tour card for 2026. Five tournaments remain in the Fall Series schedule, and only the top 100 players in the FedEx Cup standings will keep their full PGA Tour cards. Notable players like Tommy Fleetwood, Patrick Cantlay, Scottie Scheffler, and Lanto Griffin are currently within the 101-150 ranking range. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Svensson, Ben Silverman, and Adam Hadwin all missed the cut in the tournament.

Garrick Higgo's strong performance in the Sanderson Farms Championship has put him in a promising position. With five tournaments left in the Fall Series, he will continue to compete for a top spot in the FedEx Cup standings, ensuring his place in the 2026 PGA Tour season.
