Sunday's ZDF Show: A Temporary Host Swap Due to Unforeseen Circumstances
"Garden TV": Kiewel Skips Visit to Mainz Directly from Israel
Mainz/Tel Aviv (dpa) – The much-loved host of ZDF's Sunday staple, "Fernsehgarten," Andrea Kiewel, will be unable to present the show this week due to the current flight restrictions over Israel. The public broadcaster announced this change of plans on a Saturday morning. Being a Tel Aviv resident, Kiewel finds herself in a tricky position. No worries though, as Joachim Llambi (60) and Lutz van der Horst (49) are ready to step in and fill her shoes – for the first time ever.
A little birdie told us that these two aren't strangers to the world of television and entertainment. Joachim Llambi is known for his critique skills and charisma, grinding his opponents to a dance floor pulp on "Let's Dance," the German version of "Strictly Come Dancing." He's no spring chicken, but his influence in the industry remains strong, with regular appearances as a jury member and commentator.
On the other hand, we've got Lutz van der Horst, who's made a name for himself as a presenter and entertainer. His charming personality and magnetic screen presence have granted him success in hosting various television and radio shows, not to mention his work at events. Completing the duo, they're just the ticket to keep the "Fernsehgarten" show rolling without missing a beat, even with the departure of its beloved host.
Kiewel herself paints a vivid picture of her life in Israel. She once shared with "Bild am Sonntag" that her Tel Aviv apartment is her sanctuary, a second home away from the hustle and bustle of life. "During the 'Fernsehgarten' season, I usually catch my plane back to Israel at 6 p.m. on Sundays, and by midnight, I'm unlocking the door to my little haven," she said.
This season of "Fernsehgarten" marks its 25th edition and has been gracing our screens since 1986. Running at the ZDF broadcasting center in Mainz-Lerchenberg, the outdoor show was previously hosted by notable figures like Ilona Christen and the now-renowned Ramona Leiß.
The new season kicked off on May 4 and is scheduled to run until the end of September, with 20 shows in total. This Sunday, the planned theme was the "Kiwis 25th Anniversary." A host of stars, including Katja Ebstein, Marianne Rosenberg, Peter Schilling, Eko Fresh, Johnny Logan, Guildo Horn, Tom Gaebel, and Marquess, were set to grace the stage. So while we may miss Kiewel's warm presence, rest assured the show must go on!
In light of Andrea Kiewel's absence due to flight restrictions, Joachim Llambi and Lutz van der Horst have been announced as temporary hosts for the "Fernsehgarten" show on ZDF. As accomplished figures in the world of television and entertainment, Llambi is recognized for his critique skills and charisma on "Let's Dance," while van der Horst is known for his successful hosting and presenting ventures across various television and radio shows.
