Gambling Allegations Surface Against Boxer Involving NBA Athletes in Dice Wagers

Boxer Adrien Broner finds himself at the centre of an ongoing FBI investigation, suspected of being involved in a complex organised gambling scam that targeted professional athletes and celebrities, including several NBA All-Stars[1].

According to court documents, Los Angeles music executive Eugene "Big U" Henley, who is currently in jail for racketeering, is said to have run a criminal operation while posing as a community activist[2]. Henley is accused of making athletes and celebrities pay for protection when they came to Los Angeles[3].

The investigation, which began in June 2019, centres around allegations that Broner manipulated dice games to defraud others within the professional sports community[1]. One of the key pieces of evidence is a "teased" dice, which is believed to have been used to rig the games[7].

The alleged fraud reportedly involves millions of dollars, with a current NBA All-Star losing $1.5 million, while a former player lost $5 million due to the rigged games[8]. A video on social media from 2019 suggested that Broner won over $1 million from dice games in a month[5].

In a 2024 chat, Broner admitted to winning millions from NBA star John Wall through gambling[6]. However, it's important to note that Broner has not been officially named as "A.B." in the case, and he has not been arrested in relation to the investigation[9].

The case also involves connections with NBA players and Los Angeles gangs, though specific details on these aspects are limited[1]. The Rollin' 60s gang members are said to have helped with a plan to recover money for the NBA players who got cheated in the dice game[10].

Henley is a supposed boss of the Rollin' 60s Neighborhood Crips and was arrested on charges including murder, fraud, extortion, and human trafficking[4]. Some of his partners are also currently in jail[11].

The media has suggested Broner's involvement in the FBI's ongoing investigation, but the authorities have not yet released any official statements on the matter[3]. The investigation into organised crime, gambling scams, and money crimes in Los Angeles continues, with federal prosecutors planning to reveal more details as they crack down on criminal activities in the city[9].
